Favourite
pubs around the Auckland’s CBD are The Empire
Tavern, Leftfield, The Loaded Hog, The Waterfront,
Provider, and The Playhouse. Several of these are
located in the Viaduct Basin and are great places to
pick up new friends. The Carlton Tavern in Newmarket
is the place to be on a Thursday night, with two for
$10 shakers. There are also a variety of pubs around
the wider Auckland region which are well worth
visiting.
Just a
short walk from the Viaduct Basin is the premier
Auckland adult entertainment area. Popular
venues are Showgirls and Showboys, Auckland’s
most fashionable strip parlours, located on Customs
Street. Mermaids bar on Gore Street is the only bar
in Auckland with women swimming in a see through pool

diversity within the gay and lesbian community called
the Hero Parade. The Parade is the highlight of a
week’s worth of events around Auckland! The
festival takes place in February and is a great time
to visit.
K’Rd is the happening place for ravers, the
queues of people will tell you which places to go to.
Bed Bar and Kiss Bar are two of the popular ones. The
times to go vary as the ravers hit these clubs at
different hours of the evening. Save some money for
entry as the prices vary from $7 to $10.
